INKS, DYNES, AND PIGMENTS LAB TESTING TRAINING

Colour add happiness and positive aura in and around us. Without colour even tasty food will taste little. Good colour releases Dopamine i.e. happy hormones. Going little deep into science, these colour are made of different Ink, Dyes and Pigments and these substances are widely used even for black and white colours also. Every material whether it is Toys, Paints, Food Packaging Material, Bottles, Disposables Utensils, Furniture, etc. attract the customers due to the selection of attractive colours. These Colours or Inks or Dyes or Pigments used to impart attractive colours are however, not always safe to be used in our daily activities.

FARE Labs having an accredited laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) for testing of Ink, Dyes and Pigments by state of the art instruments like ICP-MS, GC, LC-MS, HPLC etc. as per the regulatory requirements such as FSSAI, European Union (EU), USFDA and many more offers a comprehensive Testing Course on Inks and Pigments Safety and Performance.

Objectives

  1. Provide a comprehensive understanding of Health Hazard of Ink, Dyes and Pigments
  2. Equip participants with practical skills for operating and maintaining of Ink, Dyes and Pigments analysis/testing.
  3. Discuss method Verification and sample preparation techniques.
  4. Familiarize attendees with data analysis, interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  5. Provide Pigment testing and analysis lab training.

What is to learn?

1. Introduction to Analysis of Ink, Dyes and Pigment Testing

  • Ink: Ink is a colored liquid that is being used for printing, writing, and drawing. In Ink testing you will learn Hue (Shade) Test, Setting Time, Drying Time, Density, Tinting Strength, Benzene, 2-nitropropane, Toluene, Mono and Di-chlorobenzene, Heavy Metals and many other parameters.
  • Dyes: Dyes are substances that add color to materials by chemically or physically binding to them. In Dyes testing you will get the knowledge of testing of Volatile Chlorinated Hydrocarbons, Volatile Fluorochlorinated Hydrocarbons, Azorubin, Fast Garnet GBC, Sudan, Rhodamine B, Heavy Metals and many more
  • Pigments: Pigments are defined as coloured, black, white or fluorescent particulate organic or inorganic solids, which are insoluble in, and essentially physically and chemically unaffected by, the vehicle or substrate in which they are incorporated. Pigment are most important colouring agent and has almost all above test as well as 2-methoxy Ethanol, 2-ethoxy Ethanol, Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Volatile Fluorochlorinated Hydrocarbons, 2-nitropropane, Toluidine Red, Bixin, Rhodamine B, all forms of Sudan, Heavy Metals and many more.

2. Instrumentation and Setup

  • Detailed discussion of Ink Dyes and Pigments sampling, sample preparation as well as sample testing and reporting
  • Detailed discussion of Gas Chromatography (GC), High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for Chemical Analysis
  • Detailed discussion Density, Drying Time Recorder, Shade Meter, etc for Physical Analysis

3. Method Development

  • Selecting appropriate analytical methods & Standard for determination for different analytes.
  • Calibration techniques: standard curves and internal standards
  • Determination of Limit of Quantification (LOQ) & Limit of Detection (LOD)

4. Applications of Equipment Using For Air & Gases Analysis

Training will be provided on selected parameters from the list below:

  • Gas Chromatography (GC): Benzene, Toluene, Mono & Di-chlorobenzene, 2-methoxy Ethanol, Volatile Chlorinated Hydrocarbons, etc
  • High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC): Sudan, Toluidine Red, Azorubin, Bixin, Rhodamine, p- nitroaniline, etc
  • Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS): Lead, Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium, Antimony, Barium, etc
  • Drying Time Recorder: Drying Time Recording

1. Hands-On Training

  • Instrument setup and calibration for sample analysis
  • Preparation and analysis of more than 50 samples for various matrices
  • Running above instruments’ methods: step-by-step guidance

2. Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Understanding mass spectra and chromatograms
  • Quantification methods and calibration curve creation
  • Software tools for data processing and reporting

3. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Identifying and resolving common problems (e.g., baseline noise, peak tailing)
  • Strategies for maintaining instrument performance
  • Preventive maintenance tips
  1. Adherence to Safety Protocols: Strictly follow all laboratory safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all participants.
  2. Active Participation: Engage actively in all training sessions, discussions, and practical exercises. Complete all assigned tasks and projects on time.
  3. Respect for Equipment and Facilities: Handle all laboratory equipment and materials with care. Report any damages or malfunctions to the instructor immediately.
  4. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with fellow participants, sharing knowledge and supporting each other’s learning.
  5. Integrity and Accuracy: Maintain a high standard of integrity in all testing procedures and documentation. Ensure that all results are accurate and reliable.

Commitment to the Program: Participants must demonstrate a commitment to the training program by attending all scheduled sessions, completing all assignments, and actively participating in practical exercises. A signed commitment agreement may be required before the start of the program.

Health and Safety Compliance: Participants must comply with health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all safety protocols. A medical clearance or proof of immunizations may be required for certain training programs.
