Testing is a mandatory requirement for FSSAI licenses, and it needs to be conducted at least every six months. This testing can be done either in the business operator’s own laboratory or at an accredited laboratory as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 or FSSAI-notified laboratory. The FSSAI requires that lab testing reports be uploaded to the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) every six months for obtaining and continuation of the FSSAI License. The following are the mandatory requirements for obtaining FSSAI License by Food Business Operators (FBOs).

  • Mandatory Testing: Food Business Operators (FBOs) must ensure their products are tested regularly to meet FSSAI standards. 
  • Testing Frequency: Testing should be conducted at least once every six months. 
  • Testing Location: Testing can be done either within the operator’s own lab or by a recognized third-party laboratory. 
  • Accreditation: The testing laboratory needs to be accredited as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by NABL and/or recognized by FSSAI. 
  • Reporting: Test reports must be uploaded to the FoSCoS system every six months. 
  • FSSAI Guidelines: FBOs should adhere to FSSAI guidelines and standards to ensure compliance of antibiotic Drugs
