Introduction
FARE Labs offers highly accurate and reliable Optical Calibration services for Lux Meters, Light Meters, Light Intensity Meters, and Illuminance Meters used in laboratories, industries, and research applications. A Lux Meter is a non-contact measuring instrument used to determine the intensity of light (in lux). At FARE Labs, calibration is performed in the range of 1 lx to 19,500 lx by comparison with a standard Illuminance Meter traceable to the National Metrology Institute (NMI) – NPL, India. The process is conducted in a high-intensity light source chamber that provides stable and uniform illumination. The calibration is based on the working principle of converting captured light into electrical current using a photo cell, allowing precise measurement of brightness as perceived by the human eye. Our reference standard (LMT Pocket Lux-2, Range: 0–19,500 lx), along with supporting equipment such as a DC Power Supply, Constant Voltage Transformer (CVT), High-Intensity Light Source, and Precision Steel Scale, ensures the most reliable calibration results under controlled environmental conditions (25 ± 4) °C temperature and (55 ± 10)% RH.
During the calibration process, both the standard and the device under calibration (DUC) are positioned within the light source chamber at a fixed distance to ensure accurate readings and uniform light distribution. Matte black chamber walls minimize unwanted reflections, while a stabilized DC power supply maintains consistent illumination throughout the procedure. Readings are recorded on both the standard and the device under calibration, and results are compared to verify accuracy, stability, and traceability. With NABL accreditation, NPL traceable standards, and a skilled technical team, FARE Labs ensures dependable and precise Optical Calibration services. Customers benefit from a wide calibration range, fast turnaround time, and transparent reporting, making FARE Labs a trusted and preferred partner for maintaining accuracy and reliability in all types of light measurement instruments.
