WHAT IS A VERMICOMPOST?
Vermicompost is the excreta of earthworm, which is capable of improving soil health and nutrient status. Vermiculture is a process by which all types of biodegradable wastes such as farm wastes, kitchen wastes, market wastes, bio-wastes of agro based industries, livestock wastes etc. are converted while passing through the worm-gut to nutrient rich vermicompost.
THE NEED FOR VERMICOMPOST TESTING
Vermicompost is an excellent soil additive made up of digested compost. Worm castings are much higher in nutrients and microbial life and therefore, are considered as a higher value product. Vermicompost contains an average of 1.5% – 2.2% N, 1.8% – 2.2% P and 1.0% – 1.5% K. The organic carbon is ranging from 9.15 to 17.98 and contains micronutrients like Sodium (Na), Calcium (Ca),Zinc (Zn), Sulphur (S), Magnesium (Mg) and Iron (Fe)
