Shilajit is a natural substance found in the Himalayan mountains, revered for its numerous health benefits in traditional medicine, particularly in Ayurveda. Often referred to as “the conqueror of mountains” or “the destroyer of weakness,” shilajit is a mineral-rich resin composed of decomposed plant matter and minerals, which seeps from the rocks in high-altitude regions. It is known for its potential to enhance physical performance, boost energy levels, and improve overall well-being.

As the demand for shilajit continues to grow globally, ensuring its authenticity, purity, and efficacy becomes paramount. FARE Labs Pvt. Ltd. is committed to providing comprehensive shilajit testing services to help manufacturers, retailers, and consumers verify the quality and safety of this valuable substance.

Importance of Shilajit Testing

  1. Authenticity Verification: The market is flooded with various products claiming to be pure shilajit. Rigorous testing is essential to confirm that a product is genuine and not adulterated or misrepresented.
  2. Quality Assessment: Shilajit’s effectiveness is directly related to its chemical composition. Testing helps determine the levels of key bioactive compounds, such as fulvic acid, humic acid, and trace minerals, ensuring that the product meets quality standards.
  3. Safety Evaluation: Ensuring that shilajit is free from harmful contaminants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, and microorganisms, is crucial for consumer safety. Our testing services assess these parameters to protect public health.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Various countries have specific regulations governing the sale of dietary supplements and herbal products. Our testing services help clients comply with these regulations, ensuring that their products are safe and legal for sale.
  5. Consumer Trust: Transparency in testing and quality assurance builds consumer confidence. Brands that provide verified testing results can differentiate themselves in a competitive market.

FARE Labs Pvt. Ltd. employs state-of-the-art technology and methodologies to provide comprehensive shilajit testing services. Our approach includes the following key areas:

1. Nutritional Composition Analysis
Our nutritional analysis focuses on the macronutrient profile of shilajit, ensuring a complete understanding of its energy and nutrient content:

  • Energy Content: We measure the caloric value of shilajit, providing essential information on its energy-providing capabilities.
  • Fat Analysis: We assess the total fat content, including the types of fatty acids present, to determine the nutritional benefits and potential health implications.
  • Protein Analysis: Our testing quantifies the protein content, essential for understanding how shilajit can contribute to muscle repair and overall health.
  • Carbohydrate Analysis: We analyze the total carbohydrates, including simple sugars and fiber, to give insights into its digestibility and energy release.

2. Bioactive Compound Assessment
Key bioactive compounds in shilajit contribute to its health benefits. We test for:

  • Fulvic Acid: Known for its antioxidant properties, fulvic acid is a critical component of shilajit. We measure its concentration to ensure the product’s effectiveness.
  • Humic Acid: Another essential component, humic acid, supports various biological functions. Our testing quantifies its presence.

3. Contaminant Testing
To ensure safety, we conduct tests for harmful substances, including:

  • Heavy Metals: Testing for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury is crucial, as these elements can pose serious health risks.
  • Pesticides: Residual pesticides can contaminate shilajit and compromise safety. Our lab tests for common pesticides to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Microbial Contamination: We assess the presence of harmful microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and molds to ensure the product is safe for consumption.
  • The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) has provided guidance on the use of fluvic acid, recognizing it as a safe and effective ingredient in Ayurvedic medicines. However, there are no specific guidelines from the Ministry regarding the use of fluvic acid in foods.
  • Similarly, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has not established regulations for fluvic acid in food products. Nevertheless, the EFSA has conducted a safety review and determined that fluvic acid is safe for human consumption. They have also recommended a maximum daily intake of 100 mg per kilogram of body weight for fluvic acid.
  • For those looking to ensure the safety and compliance of food products containing fluvic acid, it is advisable to consult an accredited and FSSAI-approved food testing laboratory. These labs can provide valuable insights into the composition and safety of such food items.
  • Expertise: Our team consists of experienced professionals with extensive knowledge of herbal products and analytical testing using national/international standards.
  • Accredited Laboratory: We operate in a fully accredited laboratory that adheres to stringent quality control measures, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: We prioritize our clients’ needs, providing personalized service and support throughout the testing process.
  • Timely Results: We understand the importance of timely information and strive to deliver results quickly without compromising quality.
